Balmain Velvet is brewed in the style of a traditional German Schwarzbier, a style that has been around since at least 1543. It utilises a wide selection of German grown base and specialty malts as well as the tiniest addition of Kiwi grown Roasted Wheat for a southern hemisphere touch. Hopped sparingly with Magnum and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops in order to let the combination of robust malts take centre stage, Balmain Velvet throws off heady vibes of chocolate brownie and hints of caramel followed by a smooth-as mouthfeel. Balmain Velvet has been cold fermented, is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. It’s spent 12 weeks in tank prior to packaging to ensure ultimate crushability. – White Bay
