The Remnant is the child of Peter Bignell of Belgrove Rye Whisky fame and his hastily formed consortium. Peter put together a rescue deal to purchase what was left/actually existed of the infamous Nant barrels and set out to blend and bottle the whisky that almost never saw the light of day.
The Golden Fleece was created by marrying 14 casks of ex-American Oak Bourbon and ex-Australian Sherry (Apera). The youngest component casks are, as far as could be ascertained, at least 10 years old.
Aromas of butterscotch and white chocolate meld with blood orange, spiced Christmas pudding, and hints of fresh raspberries. The palate is rich and full-bodied with ripe peaches, burnt fig, and Medjool dates leading to a finish of cola and toffee apple.
