Ben Haines is a highly regarded Yarra Valley wine maker, whose focus is on terroir throughout everything he does. His focus is spurred by creating an honest connection with place, and using natural, high quality ingredients that ultimately leads to unique characters expressed in the glass. He’s at the forefront of Australia’s young gun, minimal-intervention wine scene, with a signature style across vintages of beautifully textured, low-alcohol wines from all over Victoria.

The 2023 Flowers Pinot Noir is a light-medium bodied, brightly perfumed and tightly structured wine with a bustling intensity. Highly defined red and blue fruits coupled with wild herbs, floral perfumes and fragrant, earthy spices. A wine of clarity, detail and personality. Using fruit from two complementary, yet highly distinct microclimates; the Nine One Six vineyard in Steels Creek, and the Denton Vineyard in Tarrawarra. The wine making techniques are minimal but varied, using a combination of fermentation treatments including whole bunch, whole berry, and carbonic maceration. Followed up with post-fermentation maceration ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months. Pressed to 5-7-year-old 500L puncheons for 16 months on the lees before blending.
