Maison Soleil is the re-imaging of Sunny Wines, born out of a desire to respect good farming and make bright approachable wines. The idea behind Soleil was a way to further support the established Das Juice growers by taking small amounts of excess fruit from their vineyards.
The Pinot Noir is from the Peters creek vineyard (organic but not certified), which is one of the highest in the McLaren Vale GI. This vineyard straddles the Adelaide Hills and McLaren GI and is extremely cool and windy. A mixture of clones, it produces Pinot Noir of great depth. A mixture of de-stemmed and whole bunches, on skins for 2 weeks. Aged in a mixture of old French barrels and tank for 9 months. Not filtered or fined and minimal S02. A lovely nose of wild berries with some subtle leafy and earthy notes. The palate is very well balanced with great acidity, bright red fruits and a savoury, earthy dry finish.
