Independent and family-run for over 100 years, the Warenghem distillery is located in Lannion on the north coast of Brittany. Predominantly making whisky they have also produced this apple cider brandy, Fine Bretagne Cuvée Etoile.
The apple varieties are different than those used in Normandy for calvados, although similar production methods are utilised with barrel fermentation and still type. A key different that makes it a distinctive Brittany Eau De Vie is the apple pulp is spread out on canvas or straw and left to make a paste or ‘cheese’ which is then pressed and that juice added to vats for fermentation.
The Cuvée Etoile has been specially made for spirit lovers. Aged in oak casks from the Limousin region, it is marked by fine woody notes. Reminiscence of freshly baked apple pie, with light caramel aromas.
