After starting their winemaking journey with James Erskine of Jauma, Alicia and Mark have well and truly built their own reputation with Borachio, sourcing organic grapes from Mount Compass and Mount Torrens in South Australia to make light, elegant, playful wines with a cheeky soul. Zero additives and zero fuss.
This light red/dark rosé is a Pinot Noir dominant blend, with Pinot Gris and Chardonnay blended for length and focus. It’s the second release of this wine and extra time in bottle has done it wonders. Mark & Alicia state that it is ethereal light red wine with great purity that basically got them into this whole wine thing to begin with. They slurped their way through ‘Aussie Reds’ any many others before trying their first pretty, light and slippery red from that wonderous place in eastern France… Jura. And the journey began. It’s the wine they’ve been trying to create since day one and although they admit there’s been a few attempts fall short, they’re confident in saying that this wine nails their initial wide-eyed brief. Light and pretty on its feet, aromatically coy but with enough going on for deep moments of contemplation. Most importantly, utterly thirst-quenching drinkability.
