Mirco Mariotti’s vineyards are located in the eastern ‘Romagna’ part of Emilia-Romagna, an area much less known than the western part of Emilia, which is home to Lambrusco, real Balsamic Vinegar and so many gastronomic delights. It’s a laid back beach area with lots of color, where locals eat grilled flatbread sandwiches called piadina romagnola, and drink sweating bottles of frizzante vino made from local grapes while playing cards on the beach. In fact most of Mariotti’s wines are named after local card games!
Hand-harvested. Spontaneous Fermentation on indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks. 24 hours maceration on skins. After a winter break bottling is conducted in the spring with neither filtration and the addition of previously removed grape must from the same vintage added back at the same time. Fermentation of residual sugars is completed in the bottle creating a naturally frizzante wine typical of the region. Not disgorged. Aging: Minimum 4 months in bottle before release. – Supplier notes
