Delinquente’s Hell is an offshoot range of experimental, super small batch, boundary pushing wines from the folks at Delinquente Wines. Made from organically grown, Southern Italian grape varieties from the Riverland region of South Australia, fermented naturally with minimal intervention in the winery.

Macerato is made up of 50% Arinto, 50% Malvasia from Basshams organic & biodynamic vineyard grown on red sandy loam over limestone. The fruit for this wine was hand-picked and immediately destemmed into one tonne open fermenters, where each variety was fermented separately on skins until sugar dry – about 14 days. Ferments were hand plunged twice daily, and pumped over twice during fermentation, to gently extract all that lovely tannin and savoury characters. Post ferment, the must of both varieties was combined in stainless steel and sealed up for another 3 weeks to continue to extract depth of flavour. The wine was then pressed into neutral French barriques where it rested on full solids for 8 months, before being racked once prior to bottling. This wine sees no additions of any kind save for a small amount of SO2 at bottling. Such a punchy wine. It bursts out of the glass with big aromatics of white blossom, apricot, peach and pineapple. The fruit follows on to the palate with juicy ripe apricot and pineapple with a lovely textural grip and fine dry finish.
