Lambrusco is a traditional sparkling red wine from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy made from grapes of the same name. Unfortunately, Lambrusco cops a bit of flack as many producers who exported their wines internationally made them overly sweet as they thought this was what the international market wanted but real Lambrusco is dry, aromatic, fruit forward with good acidity and lovely tannic grip. The Dario Rota 27 is a classic example of a dry Lambrusco. Made with organically grown fruit and zero additions other than a small amount of sulphur at bottling. Beautifully balanced juicy dark fruit character with bright, refreshing acidity and a light earthiness. Blood plums, mulberries & cranberries with a dry tannic finish. Perfectly matched with some charcuterie, cheese or pizza…perhaps all 3? We won’t judge!
