The next release under our Good Juice wine label is the new 2024 Good Juice ‘Red’. For our light & juicy chilled red we have once again worked with Dirty Black Denim winemaker, the certified slurp master, Lawrence Scanlon. Lawrence has the golden touch when it comes to making thirst quenching, juicy, chill-able light reds so it was a no brainer to work with him again for this release.After a number of blending and tasting trials of various varietals and ratios we settled on a blend of 70% Dolcetto and 30% Barbera, both from the Corsini vineyard in King Valley. The Dolcetto was purely left overnight in the picking bins to extract a small amount of colour before being lightly pressed off as a dark rosé then tank fermented & aged. The Barbera spent 2 weeks on skins with a little semi carbonic maceration and then some light plunging before being transferred to old oak barrels for 10 months. The Dolcetto brings the bright red fruits, pretty florals and crisp acidity. The Barbera brings the structure & texture, a little spice and some savoury earthy & herbaceous tones.The result is a light & bright quaffable juice bomb with fantastic structure & balance. Jasmine, dried rose petal, raspberry candy, sour plum, pomegranate, cherry cola, blood orange, amaro, cacao. A wonderful wine you can drink with ease or take your time and contemplate all of it’s wonderful nuances.
