This charming family domaine of around 28 hectares of vines is situated on a sandy, stony hilltop overlooking the Layon river, about 10kms due south of the River Loire and the Savennières wine appellation. The estate is now certified organic and the wines are made by Quentin Cailleau, 3rd generation of the Cailleau family. This is true Chenin Blanc territory, and their Clos des Sables vineyard gives the winery’s most emblematic example of this grape.
Anjou is wine region surrounding the French city of Angers in the western Loire Valley. Chenin Blanc reigns supreme in these parts, and something incredible about this grape is its ability to age for 10, 20 and even 30 years. Origine is the gateway to the world of white wines at Sauveroy. The maturity of the manually harvested Chenin is perfectly controlled.
It is aged only in stainless steel to maintain the freshness and purity of the Chenin Blanc.
The palate delivers a beautiful aromatic complexity between white flowers and yellow fruits. This vintage offers us an elegant marriage between freshness and deliciousness. A wine of pleasure that will go wonderfully with grilled fish, shellfish or poultry.
