100% País, mixed alluvial soils on granite bedrock. 200+ yr-old vines. Practicing organics. My only 2019 Bio Bio wine, I made this with fruit from Roberto Henriquez’ new vineyard while working harvest for him. Skins ferment, pressed at two weeks. Two barriques. 10.8% alc. Hand bottled (syphon hose, no machinery). The vineyard dog is Negro, he was permanently tied up and beaten by his previous owners, Roberto released him and he has transformed from a violent and frightened dog to a joyous and free creature, this wine fermented while he roamed free for the first time in the vineyard and after gentle coaxing, into the old winery. Barrique No1 contains 10% País from volcanic soils – released first as it has more open and generous fruit young. Barrique No2 that is 100% alluvial on granite and is more savoury and tight, will follow. Min So2 after malo and none thereafter (bottled with 19ppm total and 5 free).
