Founded in 2010, Heaps Good Wine Company is a small family owned winery situated in Ritoznoj in the foothills of the Pohorje range in Stajerska Slovenija. New Zealand expat Nick Gee worked all over the world making wines and gaining experience – having completed 25 harvests in his time, across 4 different countries, and with over 20 different grape varieties –  before settling in Stajerska.

Nick works with both international and local varieties, using minimal intervention and adds as to produce wines that express the individuality of their vineyard sites. The cool climate of Stajerska allows Nick to make wines of balance, purity, restraint and elegance.

Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Muscat Ottonel and Wurzer vines sitting at 300 – 400m altitude, all varietals are hand picked and produced separately. Allowed to spontaneously ferment then resting in seasoned French oak, on gross lees for 12 months.

Golden in colour, mixing rich fruit with reductive notes of flint and struck match. An awesome combination of wild tropical fruits, including pineapple, oranges, citrus zest and apricots, progressing to stone fruits, alongside a zippy acidity and a minerally backbone.  Starts texturally light and builds weight to the finish.
