The Brutal Wine Corporation is a wine movement and wine label created by a handful of extraordinary Spanish & French natural wine producers, Joan Ramon of Escoda-Sanahuja, Antony Tortul of La Sorga and Laureano Serres of Mendall, who felt like the term natural wine was being a little bit abused and overused. The label is available for any producer to use upon request as long as they meet specific criteria. Just organically grown fruit and the magic of wild fermentation. Inspired by the Brutal Wine Corporation and after visiting Joan Ramon of Escoda back in 2019 we asked for his blessing to bring the Brutal concept to the beer world and so the idea of Brewtal was born. After a long period of planning and unavoidable delays (COVID) we finally made our way to NZ in March 2023 to make it happen. We decided to make two bottled versions. The ‘Rouge’ is hand picked organic, wild fermented Pinot Noir from the Nelson vineyard combined with a barrel aged wild beer blend made up of 80% red wine BA turbid mashed spon beer and 20% cherry blossom wild ale, then rested on Wakefield raspberries. A truly Brewtal blend of wild fermented wine, beer & fruit.
