100% Sangiovese whole bunch fermented, un-oaked Sangiovese is one of Amy’s favourite grapes; the acid / tannin interplay and fruit character results in vibrant, intriguing wines. Sangiovese needs a very good year to get ripe and 2019 was a very good year at Maraekākaho vineyard. The sun gods were smiling on us, so we named this wine after one of them.
Halcyon Days uses time-honoured methods to create living wines that are a dynamic expression of our reira in Aotearoa New Zealand. Halcyon Days wine is made with organic grapes from a BioGro certified Mangatahi vineyard, planted in loam over red gravel alluvial soils. Mangatahi is a sub-region of Hawke’s Bay on the southern terraces of the braided Ngaruroro river.
Our fruit is handpicked, natural ferment, and our wines are unfined, unfiltered, with no additions. – Halcyon Days
