This second-generation estate is now lead by Claire Naudin, whose father Henri Naudin-Ferrand founded the domain.

Under the tutelage of her father, Claire completed her first vintage in 1991. She then travelled to Australia for a five-month internship and studied agronomy and oenology, before returning to the domain. She began managing the estate in 1994, and became the sole owner in 1997 when her mother and father had both retired.

The domain is based in Magny-Les-Villers, and straddles the two appellations of Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune and Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. These days, Claire owns and manages 22 hectares of vineyard, with some prestigious parcels in Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix, Échezeaux, Nuit-Saint-Georges, and 80% in regional appellations.

She is a strong believer in sustainable winemaking, farming with respect for her surrounding landscape, and refusing standardisation. Her wines are deeply rooted in Burgundian tradition, and she believes that a great wine is being made 365 days of year—from each stage of the vines’ growth through to bottling. She is also very conscious of preserving the environment for future generations, and hence ensures her winemaking is carbon neutral.

Most Domaine Henri Naudin-Ferrand grapes are farmed using organic methods and are vinified as whole bunches. Claire does not introduce yeasts, enzymes, or tannins, and the domain’s wines have not been fined for more than 15 years. They receive a light filtration (kieselguhr) or no filtration. No sulphur is added during the winemaking process, but it is sometimes added at bottling to ensure that the wines remain stable thereafter.
