Foursquare of Barbados is a powerhouse of rum distilling. Independently owned by the Seale family, Richard Seale is highly regarded as one of the best rum producers and blenders of his generation. On top of which he is widely praised for the distillery’s transparency and dedication to craft, certainly raising the bar of what is regarded as ‘exceptional rum’.

Having just landed in the country the Foursquare ‘Exceptional Cask’ series has been widely anticipated among rum enthusiasts. We were so excited to get our hands on the Touchstone, Covenant and 2011.

Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXII “Touchstone” is a blend of two 14-year double-matured, single blended rums crafted using both artisanal double-retort pot stills and traditional twin column Coffey stills.

One rum was aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to ex-Cognac casks for an additional 9 years. The other rum was aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels and then transferred to ex-Camus Cognac casks for 2 more years.
