The 2020 Midnight Amber is part of a collective of wines curated by our friend and wine importer Will Dyre. Will has ample experience with Spanish wines having worked at Movida on the floor and then for The Spanish Acquisition as a sales representative. In 2019 he stepped away to start his own importing company and is bringing in some incredible wines of all price points. However, this cuvee was one of the most sensational wines we have tried from his entire portfolio. The name reflects the fact that in Navarra, they pick at midnight and press at dawn to avoid spoilage of the grapes due to the heat during the afternoon. When then finish picking the valley is lit up by a vibrant amber sunrise. This wine is 100% Grenache and its pretty heavy for a rosè almost blurring lines between rose and chilled red. We got classic strawberries and cream on the nose followed by crunchy red apples and golden plums. Aromatic purity, texture, drive and freshness are hallmarks of this ultra-bargain Spanish offering that is seriously hard to fault.
